Coach Richie Gomez
Kings Park Stand‑out | Edinboro Alum | Private Coach & High School Mentor
Richie Gomez brings a background of competitive tenacity, collegiate experience, and hands-on athlete development to Gold Schopp Wrestling. Hailing from Kings Park, New York, Richie was a three-year starter at Kings Park High School, finishing his prep career with a 103–29 record, including an impressive 36–4 senior season.
He continued his wrestling journey at Edinboro University, primarily competing at 133 lbs. Over multiple seasons, Richie demonstrated resilience and grit—highlighted by a standout performance at the Eastern Wrestling League Championships where, after an opening loss, he battled back to place third—winning over Seth Koleno (Clarion) before narrowly missing second place. He also earned spots on the MAC Honor Roll and was named an Edinboro Scholar-Athlete.
Now, Coach Gomez applies his experience through hands-on coaching—leading private sessions to help individual wrestlers improve, and collaborating with local high schools to grow young talent. His technical mindset, patient approach, and motivational energy make him an essential part of athlete development.
At Gold Schopp Wrestling, Coach Gomez leverages his competitive background and attention to detail to guide wrestlers in mastering technique, building confidence, and taking ownership of their long-term progress on the mat.
